Hannah Chapin is an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Office of Advanced Manufacturing (OAM), which also serves as the Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office for Manufacturing USA. Hannah earned a B.A. in Biology from Carleton College. She earned a Ph.D. in cell biology from Yale University for work on protein trafficking in kidney epithelial cells. Her postdoctoral work in biochemistry at the University of Washington, Seattle, focused on age- and tissue-specific patterns of autophagy.
Prior to joining OAM, Hannah was the Dean of Academics and Differentiated Curriculum for the Upper School at Seattle Academy, where she brought systems-level optimization to questions of curriculum design, professional development, and pedagogy. She has designed and taught classes in biology, endocrinology, and anatomy and physiology, among other topics.
At OAM, Hannah works with federal agency staff on the education and workforce development that empowers the workforce of the future.
