In 2025, MxD and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) successfully deployed 10 first-generation industrial sensor kits to monitor legacy machine health and optimize submarine maintenance. While this pilot proved the value of no-code, real-time data collection, scaling it across the broader Organic Industrial Base (OIB) revealed key challenges in high per-unit costs, deployment complexity, and limited productization. To address these limitations, MxD is seeking a design, production, and deployment partner to co-develop a lower-cost, next-generation sensor solution. Building on initial successes and PNSY’s specific use cases, the project will install at least 100 updated sensor kits at PNSY and establish a roadmap to produce 400 or more units for widespread OIB adoption.
