The Manufacturing USA Program Strategic Plan details the program’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives for the next four years. The plan describes the methods by which the Program’s goals and objectives will be implemented. It explains the Program's technology investment strategy and how the program catalyzes private sector investment, coordinates interagency efforts, and utilizes internal and external assessments to achieve continuous improvement.

To secure America’s technological superiority over global competitors and transform today’s advanced manufacturing innovations into tomorrow’s domestic industries, the Manufacturing USA network of innovation institutes develops emerging technologies and integrates them into the U.S. supply chain. These institutes, which operate as public-private partnerships focused on specific technologies, bring together industry, academia, and government. Working with member organizations, they work to overcome the “valley of death,” promote technology adoption, train the manufacturing workforce, build supply chain resilience, and strengthen U.S. industrial dominance.

Manufacturing USA Vision

U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing.

Manufacturing USA Mission

Connect people, ideas, and technology to solve industry-relevant advanced manufacturing challenges and enhance industrial competitiveness.

Goals

In alignment with the vision and mission of the Manufacturing USA Program, the participating agencies and institutes work toward four strategic goals:

Goal 1:

Increase the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing

Goal 2:

Transition innovative technologies into scalable domestic manufacturing capabilities

Goal 3:

Develop an advanced manufacturing workforce

Goal 4:

Promote a durable network of institutes serving national priorities

Consistent with each institute-sponsoring agency’s mission, these four goals flow from the program’s statutory purposes and guide a clear strategy for driving manufacturing innovation, speeding the shift from early-stage research to development and, ultimately, deployment in the U.S. manufacturing sector.
