Our NIIMBL-led Program Webinar Series continues with four new sessions highlighting the Institute’s Programs and activities. Open to the entire biopharmaceutical community, the NIIMBL-led Program Webinar Series gives you the chance to learn about the work happening within NIIMBL, discover engagement opportunities, and ask questions about these exciting Programs and projects.

The series begins on February 15, 2023, at 11:30 am ET and continues each Wednesday through March 8, 2023. The following topics will be covered:

  • February 15, 2023: NIIMBL Process Intensification Program
  • February 22, 2023: End-to-End Automated Glycan Analytical Platform for Model-based Adaptive Control: A Key Use Case of NIIMBL Big Data Program from BD3 stream
  • March 1, 2023: NIIMBL Biomanufacturing Process Ontology Development
  • March 8, 2023: NIIMBL Vaccines Manufacturing Initiative

Registration is now open for all sessions. The convenient registration process allows you to register once for all sessions or the topics of most interest to you.

The series is open to everyone in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing community, including NIIMBL members, non-members, and federal stakeholders.

February 15, 2023: NIIMBL Process Intensification Program

Presenter: John Erickson, NIIMBL

This session describes an ambitious ten-year collaborative program to invent, design, demonstrate and support commercialization of integrated biopharmaceutical manufacturing technology intended to transform the industry. Our goal is to enable improved control, robustness and security of supply, and dramatically reduced capital and operating cost, flexibility to supply an extremely diverse and changing portfolio of products in the face of uncertainty and changing demand, faster product development and supply chain velocity, with sustainable raw materials, components, and energy use.

February 22, 2023: End-to-End Automated Glycan Analytical Platform for model-based adaptive control: A key use case of NIIMBL Big Data Program from BD3 stream

Presenter: Abhijeet Satwekar, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany

The transformative NIIMBL Big Data program aims to bring the data-driven adaptive control of biomanufacturing process. Within this program, the BD3 stream on Advanced Sensors and Data Analytics has the objective of defining platform analytical technologies and sensors for the NIIMBL test bed. As the first use case, the team is working to establish an end-to-end automated glycan analytical platform to enable model-based adaptive control of glycosylation. The BD3 stream continues to identify opportunities to apply innovative analytical technologies to the full panel of Critical Quality Attributes within the scope of biomanufacturing for a long-term roadmap, with new initiatives to resolve the existing challenges.

March 1, 2023: NIIMBL Biomanufacturing Process Ontology Development

Presenter: Robert Heckathorn, AstraZeneca

Create “standard ontologies” and drive adoption within Biopharmaceutical community to enable sharing within and between different enterprises to reduce time spent in tacit knowledge transfer and support digitization initiatives. Develop reusable and extendable modular ontologies to enable future use cases with version control and support stable enterprise system lifecycle management.

March 8, 2023: NIIMBL Vaccines Manufacturing Initiative

Presenter: Barry Buckland, NIIMBL

Highlights of the current NIIMBL funded projects to improve vaccine manufacturing will be presented as well as the Program’s future plans.
