CESMII Strengthens its Regional Manufacturing Center (RMC) Network

Facilities, Manufacturing, Power Electronics, Smart Manufacturing

Effective May 15th Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) has streamlined its Regional Manufacturing Centers (RMC) (now SMICs) to three locations to focus resources on achieving a more accessible and stronger U.S. capability network. The restructuring of the regional centers from five to three regions – Southern, Northern, and Western – along with the creation of satellite centers, will strengthen CESMII’s outreach capabilities.  The broad member network of industrial manufacturing expertise can be better leveraged through the use of focused CESMII resources based at the RMCs and satellites at these strategic geographic locations.

“We are very pleased with the rapid establishment of each RMC’s operations and their engagement with the industrial, academic and government entities within their region. That engagement has allowed us to champion the mission and voice of CESMII,  drive initial membership and to successfully solicit our first set of funded projects,” said Jim Wetzel, Interim CEO of CESMII.  The success of the Regional Manufacturing Centers has rapidly increased CESMII’s footprint and visibility across the U.S.A.”
