Manufacturing

The NIST-produced video documentary, featuring America Makes – a DoD sponsored Manufacturing USA institute – and two young engineers in Youngstown, Ohio, won three Awards during the June 21, 2020 Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Science’s regional Emmy Awards.

Rethinking Manufacturing Documentary Receives Three Regional Emmys

The Emmys were awarded for branded content program – short form to NIST staff members: Jose Ricardo Garcia (producer/writer), Leon Gerskovic (producer), David Stewart (color correction/graphics) and Zara Brunner (executive producer).  Garcia also won an Emmy for Director – non-live (post-produced) and Stewart won for photographer (non-news).  News stations and sports teams were among the other winners.

With support from America Makes, Youngstown State University and the Youngstown Business Incubator, the documentary illustrates how these innovators and their peers are rethinking manufacturing, rethinking career choices, and rethinking the very idea of how we build and revitalize communities.

More than just the story of two individuals, Rethinking Manufacturing is also a story about the changes underway in communities across the nation and new opportunities from advanced manufacturing.

We are honored by this recognition and hope that it will raise awareness about the importance of advanced manufacturing to people’s careers, our communities and indeed the nation.
