LIFT, the Detroit-based, Department of Defense-supported national manufacturing innovation institute [part of Manufacturing USA], was joined today by Dr. Alondra Nelson, Deputy Director for Science and Society at the White House Office of Science and Technology in celebration of Manufacturing Day 2021.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Manufacturing Day was once again held virtually, but Dr. Nelson provided the students with an inspirational message about the importance of manufacturing to our national economy and how they could find very successful careers in that field.

After Dr. Nelson spoke, LIFT provided a live tour of the facility, highlighting LIFT’s Detroit facility which is both a showcase, showing the art of the possible in both technology and talent development, and a sandbox, where the institute’s members come to learn, work and bring new technologies into the marketplace.
