Network Convener, Impassioned Educator, Journaler
When it comes to preparing the next generation of manufacturers, Niki Kim is all in. Since joining MxD in August 2023, she’s quickly become a driving force behind one of the organization’s largest initiatives—CAPITAL, a workforce development program designed to upskill learners in digital and cybersecurity competencies for advanced manufacturing. With her blend of curiosity, leadership, and collaboration, Niki’s made a big impact in a short time.
Her academic background in community health and urban planning gives her a unique perspective. She knows that successful workforce development isn’t just about content—it’s about people. Niki engages with stakeholders at all levels, from community partners to national workforce leaders, to ensure MxD’s training programs are accessible, relevant, and effective. She leads with a learner-first mindset and brings an impressive level of detail and coordination to everything she does.
In just over a year, Niki helped lead the creation of 15 new advanced manufacturing courses, covering topics like cybersecurity analytics, data annotation, and augmented reality integration. These launched in December 2024 and have already reached more than 2,000 learners. That kind of impact doesn’t happen by accident. It reflects Niki’s dedication, her knack for collaboration, and her passion for building meaningful, future-focused careers.
Before MxD, Niki worked in early childhood education, where she honed her skills in learner engagement and operations. That experience now fuels her work in workforce development—meeting learners where they are, regardless of age or background, and giving them the tools to thrive in a rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape. Niki is a Modern Maker.
